Grace Thompson RN

In 1973 I began working as a Registered Nurse, most of those years in Cardiac care. I started practicing yoga in 1996 and 4 years later completed a teacher training program in a different method. Over time my asana practice became painful and injurious. An imbalance had been uncovered. I realized there was lack in my understanding and knowledge. This realization led to exploration. In 2001 I became a Thai Yoga Massage therapist and traveled to Thailand to further my studies in 2003. During that time I also became a personal trainer. In 2002 I walked into my first Iyengar yoga class as an Intro student with Cathie Smith at Yoga Centre London. I was immediately drawn to the intelligence, clarity and directness of the method. I still remember walking back to my car after a class and realizing I had just done yoga without pain; it was a powerful "ah ha" moment. In 2006 I began teacher training with Senior Iyengar teacher Marlene Mawhinney at Yoga Centre Toronto. I see yoga as a journey of self-discovery and awakening. I see yoga as a joyful blessing in my life - a blessing to be shared.
